Meet Our Board
At the age of 16 John joined the working class when he landed a job as a cook at McDonald's. After high school (and a stent at KFC) he worked at Shoney's where he started in the dish room and worked his way up to line cook. Eventually he landed a job at a local Italian restaurant as a fry cook and soon traveled up the kitchen brigade ranks to kitchen supervisor for the dinner shift. Feeling the never-ending itch to learn more, John then applied for a position at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Down Town Tampa. This position would prove to be something that to this day he refers to as "my culinary school." Here he worked for a sous chef that taught him classic French technique. At the age of 23 John got his first management position as a sous chef for Macaroni Grill in Pembroke Pines, FL. This is where he started learning the business side of running a successful operation. Two and a half years later he secured a sous chef spot at Weston Hills Country Club in Weston, FL. Next he had a brief stent working for Norman Van Aken at his flagship restaurant in Coral Gables before moving back to Tampa and eventually becoming Executive Chef at Walden Lakes Country Club. John was subsequently Executive Chef at a local hotel, then a member of the brigade at the legendary Bern's Steak House in South Tampa. After a stent at Mise En Place Restaurant under Chef Marty Blitz, John took a break from cooking. During his ten-year sojourn in the health care field he Wrote Raw Ingredients: Practical Lessons from a Culinary Life. He also got involved with his church's Juvenile Detention Center Ministry where he continues to join the team showing love to our hurting youth. He subsequently returned to the culinary profession and is currently a Chef Instructor at Sur La Table retail store in the Hyde Park Village District of South Tampa. He has also partnered with G3, a local organization that focuses on mentoring youth. In 2020 during the height of the pandemic he began to feel the calling to start an organization to help fellow displaced hospitality workers find their purpose and true calling in life while serving others. Hence the birth of S.E.E.D. (Spiritually Edifying Entertainment and Dining). When he's not busy John enjoys spending time with his wife Sheri and his three lovely daughters.
Born in Ft. Myers, Fl and raised in Tampa, Kim graduated from Tampa Bay Tech high school. At the age of 17 she became a mother. Despite the many challenges of teenage motherhood Kim became a licensed cosmetologist at the age of 18 and began a career in the hair industry. By the age of 22, she had her second child and left the hair industry to raise her children. This was still a time of testing, that lead to many bad decisions. Kim suffered abuse of many forms and depression. By the age of 24, she had three children and was headed no where fast. But thanks be to God for a praying mother. Kim made her decision to follow Christ completely at age 29. By the age of 31, she began working with troubled teens who were court ordered to a residential facility. She quickly developed a passion for helping those who were lost like she once had been. That driving passion fueled her to eventually go on to earn her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, majoring in Christian Counseling with some studies in Substance Abuse. Kim continued to work with youth through the next 10 years encouraging and motivating them to reach for greater. Through those years of service she came to see how desperately this young generation needed to be shown the love of Christ. She desired more and more to be one the Lord chose to express that love. It was during this time Kim met who she called her “Jesus Buddy.” Bernar Jones would years later became her husband and partner in ministry. With such a great need for the love of Christ to be shown, this has become a mission for both ministers and their 7 children. Kim expresses the heart of a servant through prayer, intercession, and serving the people of God through ministry. She continues to do the work of ministry while serving her church and community.
